Our First Cherries

Announcing the arrival of the cherry season in Australia. Aah...the sweet and sour taste of a ripe cherry will linger on your tongue for time immemorial.

To say the juicy fruit is my all time favourite is indeed an understatement. It is my FAVOURITE ever! Apart from Angelina plum, that is. So I'm fickle minded, I'm female. Duh!

At $9.90/kg, it's still quite pricey. But that's because it's still early days of the season. The city of Young, New South Wales, is the cherry capital of Australia, about 241km southwest of Sydney. We are still waiting for Dad to come home to go cherry picking in the orchards. In the meantime, these bought ones from the greengrocers will do.

Delectable, juicy, lush, seductive. ooh...don't have enough adjectives to describe having one in the mouth....yummm....

We bought some peaches and nectarines too. When we finish these we'll go get some apricots and plums next.

Hurry up Brad, let's finish up all the fruits fast. Then Mama will go buy some more....meow!

Dear darlings

I am so so so so cemburu and sad....All the lovely cherries and nectarines for your selection and none for me :-(.

Nonetheless, I hope to savor them soon...

Have lots of sweet moments together and make sure you don't stain the rugs or sofas!

Take care and lots of hugs to all of you.

Salam,
Paula

Uncle Lee,
It is a rip off but it's worth it. Yeah, $9 can buy us 11 cans of delectable tuna though. Is the results of the lottery out yet? Can't wait to have you in our blessed land. purrr....meow!

Aunty Naz,
We don't have cherry trees in our backyard. In fact, we don't even have a backyard! Only a balcony! South American peaches, eh? Haven't seen those. We only eat Aussie fruits, so how? purrr....meow!

Ooooh you lucky, lucky kitties! What fun! Such a lot of delicious fruits! I suppose my kitties will have to make do with rambutans and mangoes, then?

P/S: Just stay away from grapes and raisins, please. They are toxic to cats and dogs.

CO78,
It's also mango season here but we don't fancy them much. They were going for like $10/box yesterday compared to the $9.90/kg of cherries. We have to go to Chinatown to get rambutan though, they're Aussie ones. Grapes and raisin toxic to cats? Phew! The season is over anyway. purr...meow!
Come join our fruit picking session.

Aunty Anne,
If you sing Koibitoyo to me, I'll save some fruits for you. Or make me your DIL. yummmm....meow!

Aunty Kay,
My Mama has checked the ones sold in your country. Yeah, we agree on the pathetic part. At the height of the season, they'll be people selling them in boxes by the roadside. That's why we can't wait to go to the orchards. purr...meow!

Aunty Anne,
Bruce would have to compete really hard against my other suitors - Rajoo, Pingu and Casper. And he shouldn't sing like Doraemon or Hello Kitty. purrr....meow!

AHAH! Caught ya in the act! You said in my blog your eyes only for Rajoo... no more flirting!

Cat-from-Sydney said...

Aunty Pi,
Thank God you're not a lawyer...hahaha... Yes, I did say my eyes are only for Rajoo. But I didn't say anything about my heart. So the heart can still wander... purrr.... meow!
